Appamada Groups

Page history last edited by Peg Syverson 1 year, 12 months ago

Appamada groups are a wonderful way to support the sangha, make friends, work, play, learn, and teach. They help create the thriving practice community at Appamada and enrich the entire sangha. Anyone who has been added to the Appamada web site can learn more about or join a group through the links below. If you have not yet been added to the website, you may request to be added here. If you have questions or difficulties signing up, please contact Peg.

Notes

4/30/10 Introduction to groups Gives an overview of groups at Appamada and specific pages about each group. It reflects our intentions for how we can support our practice and training through working, learning, playing, and teaching mindfully together. Groups are an important aspect of our relational practice in Zen.

Appamada Campus Group

The Campus group helps maintain and improve Appamada’s buildings and grounds. This group will also advise us about our options if we get to the point of outgrowing this space. We are not there yet, but we can foresee this possibility at some point in the future.

Appamada Sangha Care Group

The Sangha Care group fosters a thriving sangha, helping create a sense of fun, community, and care. This group plans outings and events and celebrations and will also advise us about sangha members in need of special care.

Appamada Media Group

The Media group has a crucial role in documenting and making public the life of the sangha and the teachings offered. This benefits not only the local sangha, but our affiliated sanghas at a distance, those who miss an event, and the larger interested public. While special skills are not required to join this group, the group as a whole will be engaged in video, audio, photographic, and text productions, as time and resources allow.

Appamada Zendo Care Group

The Zendo Care group helps maintain and improve Appamada’s Zendo. This includes the main Zendo, the side Zendo, and the Practice Discussion room. This is an extremely important function: the Zendo is the heart of what we offer the sangha. Our care for it reflects our intentions and sincerity of practice together.
